Mary McLeod Bethune believed wholeheartedly that education was the key the racial growth and advancement. She was a teacher and founded her own college, as well as being a personal advisor to both presidents Coolidge and Roosevelt. She also founded the National Council of Negro Women and was the president of the National Association of Colored Women.
